Policy for the Protection of Biodiversity

1. 개요 (Overview)

1) 제정목적 (Purpose of Enactment)

본 규정은 금문산업㈜(이하 "회사" 또는 "당사")는 부품 제조, 사업장 운영, 제품 유통/판매 등 사업 운영 전반에서 발생가능한 생물다양성 저해ㆍ손실 리스크를 점검 및 평가함과 동시에, 지역사회의 생물다양성을 보전/복원/확대하기 위해 본 생물다양성 보호 정책을 제정한다. 본 생물다양성 보호 정책은 국제사회의 생물다양성 협약, 멸종위기에 처한 야생동식물종의 국제거래에 관한 협약, 국제자연보전연맹의 보호지역 카테고리 적용 가이드라인 등을 참고하여 제정하였다.

Gummoon Industry Co., Ltd. (the "Company") hereby establishes this Biodiversity Protection Policy to identify and assess potential risks of biodiversity degradation and loss arising throughout its business operations, including parts production, workplace operations, and product distribution/sales, while also promoting the conservation, restoration, and expansion of biodiversity within local communities. This Biodiversity Protection Policy has been established with reference to international frameworks and guidelines, including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and the IUCN Guidelines for Applying Protected Area Management Categories.

2) 적용범위 (Scope of Application)

회사의 본사, 사업장은 본 정책을 적용받는다. 또한, 공급자 및 협력사 등 거래관계에 있는 이해관계자에게 본 정책을 권장하며, 생물다양성 저해ㆍ손실 예방, 지역사회 생물다양성 보호 필요성을 확산/전파하도록 노력한다. 회사는 본 생물다양성 보호 정책을 기반으로 사업운영 전반에서 생물다양성 평가 및 보전/복원/확대 활동을 추진하되, 생물다양성 증진, 야생 동식물 관리, 자연 서식지 보존, 기타 산림ㆍ토양ㆍ수자원 이용 등에 관한 현지 법률 및 규제가 있는 경우 이를 우선적으로 준수한다.

This Policy applies to the Company's headquarters and business sites. In addition, the Company recommends this Policy to stakeholders engaged in business relationships with the Company, including suppliers and business partners, and strives to promote and disseminate awareness regarding the prevention of biodiversity degradation and loss, as well as the importance of protecting biodiversity within local communities. Based on this Biodiversity Protection Policy, the Company shall carry out biodiversity assessment, conservation, restoration, and expansion activities throughout its business operations. Where local laws and regulations related to biodiversity enhancement, wildlife management, natural habitat conservation, and the use of forests, soil, and water resources are applicable, such laws and regulations shall take precedence and be complied with accordingly.

3) 이행체계 (Implementation Framework)

회사는 본 생물다양성 보호 정책에 따라 사업장 및 그 주변지역, 또는 인근 자연생태계의 생물다양성을 보호하는 체계를 운영한다. 사업장 등은 법률 및 규제에서 요구하는 경우, 또는 지역사회 등 이해관계자가 생물다양성 저해ㆍ손실에 관한 합리적 우려를 제기하는 경우, 사업장 등이 위치한 국가ㆍ지역별 자연환경 특성을 고려한 생물다양성 평가를 실시한다. 생물다양성 평가 결과, 사업운영으로 영향을 받는 생물(식물, 동물, 미생물)의 종(Species)과 분포현황(Numbers)을 파악하여, 위험이 상당하거나 취약한 상태의 생물 종과 분포를 보전/복원/확대하는 계획을 수립 및 이행한다. 또한, 초기 생물다양성 평가 외에도 생물다양성 보전/복원/확대활동에 따른 생물다양성의 증감 현황을 모니터링할 수 있는 시스템을 구축/운영한다.

The Company operates a framework to protect biodiversity within and around its business sites, as well as in nearby natural ecosystems, in accordance with this Biodiversity Protection Policy. Where required by applicable laws and regulations, or where stakeholders such as local communities raise reasonable concerns regarding biodiversity degradation or loss, the Company shall conduct biodiversity assessments that take into account the environmental characteristics of the countries and regions in which its business sites are located. Based on the results of such biodiversity assessments, the Company shall identify the species and distribution status of living organisms (including plants, animals, and microorganisms) affected by its business operations, and shall establish and implement plans to conserve, restore, and expand species and habitats that are determined to be at significant risk or in vulnerable condition. In addition to the initial biodiversity assessment, the Company shall establish and operate monitoring systems to track changes in biodiversity resulting from biodiversity conservation, restoration, and expansion activities.

2. 선언 (Declaration)

1) 지향점 (Direction)

회사는 원부자재 구매/조달, 사업장 운영, 제품 유통/판매, 폐제품 수거/재활용 등 사업 운영 전반의 생물다양성 보호를 위해 최선의 노력을 다한다. 이를 위해, 사업운영으로 인한 생물다양성 저해/손실 방지, 생물다양성 보호지역에 사업 운영 금지, 생물다양성 보호를 위한 투자 및 활동 확대에 관한 다음의 지향점을 선언한다.

The Company makes its best efforts to protect biodiversity throughout its business operations, including the purchase and procurement of raw and subsidiary materials, workplace operations, product distribution and sales, as well as the collection and recycling of end-of-life products. To this end, the Company hereby declares the following strategic directions regarding the prevention of biodiversity degradation and loss caused by business operations, the prohibition of business activities in biodiversity protected areas, and the expansion of investments and activities for biodiversity protection.

① [No Net Loss] 회사는 중장기적으로 생물다양성 저해/손실없이 사업을 운영하는 가치사슬 구조를 완성한다.

The Company aims to establish, over the mid to long term, a value chain structure that enables business operations without causing biodiversity degradation or loss.

② [Not Operate] 회사는 중장기적으로 생물다양성 보호지역에 사업 시설 및 장치를 설치/운영하지 않는다.

Over the mid to long term, the Company shall not install or operate business facilities and equipment in biodiversity protected areas.

③ [Positive Impact] 회사는 생물다양성 보전/복원/확대를 위한 투자 및 활동을 확대/추진한다.

The Company shall expand and promote investments and activities aimed at the conservation, restoration, and enhancement of biodiversity.

④ [Strategic Mitigation] 회사는 멸종위기 등 생물다양성 위험이 높은 종(Species)을 특별히 보호/관찰한다.

The Company shall provide special protection and monitoring for species that are at high risk in terms of biodiversity, including endangered species.

⑤ [External Collaboration] 회사는 생물다양성 보호를 위해 산업계-지역사회-전문기관 등과 협력체계를 구축한다.

The Company shall establish cooperative frameworks with industry partners, local communities, and specialized institutions to promote biodiversity protection.

2) 생물다양성 평가 및 보호지역 (Biodiversity Assessment and Protected Areas)

회사는 국내외 생물다양성 또는 야생동식물 보호에 관한 법률 및 규제, 국제자연보전연맹의 보호지역 카테고리(IUCN Category Ⅰ~Ⅳ Protected Areas)을 종합적으로 고려하여 생물다양성 평가 및 보호 지역을 정의한다. 회사는 해당 지역 또는 인근에 사업장이 위치해 있는 경우 또는 협력사 및 원산지를 포함한 공급망이 위치해 있는 경우 또는 사업 운영으로 인해 해당 지역에 부정적 영향이 명확하게 밝혀지는 경우 해당 지역의 생물다양성 구성/역할/잠재력, 생물다양성의 역사적/문화적/교육적 중요성을 보전/복원/확대 활동을 추진한다.

The Company defines biodiversity assessment and protected areas by comprehensively considering domestic and international laws and regulations related to biodiversity and wildlife protection, as well as the IUCN Protected Area Categories (Category I–IV Protected Areas) established by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Where the Company's business sites are located within or near such areas, where supply chains including suppliers and sourcing regions are located within or near such areas, or where business operations are clearly identified as having negative impacts on such areas, the Company shall promote activities to conserve, restore, and enhance the composition, functions, and potential of biodiversity in those areas, as well as their historical, cultural, and educational significance.

① 국제사회 보전지역(IUCN Category Ⅰa 등) — 국제사회에서 인정한 자연생태계가 조성되어 있고 다양한 생물종이 번영하는 지역으로써 인위적인 영향이 미치지 않았으며, 아주 작은 인위적 영향에도 파괴될 수 있는 지역

Areas where internationally recognized natural ecosystems are established and diverse species thrive, which have remained free from significant human interference and may be vulnerable to destruction even by minimal anthropogenic impacts.

② 원시야생 온전한 지역(IUCN Category Ⅰb 등) — 원시야생의 자연생태계 모습을 유지하고 있으며, 원시야생의 생활양식을 보유한 원주민 공동체가 거주하는 지역으로써 교육/과학 목적으로 최소한의 영향만을 허용하는 지역

Areas that preserve pristine wilderness ecosystems and are inhabited by indigenous communities maintaining traditional wilderness lifestyles, where only minimal human impact is permitted for educational and scientific purposes.

③ 국가 단위 보호지역(IUCN Category Ⅱ 등) — 국가 단위에서 자연생태계 형성과정을 영구적으로 보전하기 위해 지정한 지역으로써 토종 동식물의 보호와 함께 신앙적, 과학적, 교육적, 휴양/관광 등에 있어 중요성이 높은 지역

Areas designated at the national level for the permanent conservation of natural ecosystem formation processes, which are of significant importance for the protection of native flora and fauna, as well as for religious, scientific, educational, recreational, and tourism purposes.

④ 자연 문화 유적지역(IUCN Category Ⅲ 등) — 자연적으로 형성되었거나, 신앙 및 문화로 인해 형성된 자연생태계로써 고고학/인류학/역사학/지리학 관점에서 사료적 가치가 높은 지역

Areas consisting of naturally formed ecosystems or ecosystems shaped by religious and cultural influences, which possess significant historical and documentary value from archaeological, anthropological, historical, and geographical perspectives.

⑤ 생물종/서식지 관리지역(IUCN Category Ⅳ 등) — 국제적, 국가적 또는 지방단체에서 생물종 및 서식지 보호를 위해 지정한 지역으로써 생물다양성 증진을 위해 적극적인 관리/간섭이 필요한 지역

Areas designated by international organizations, national governments, or local authorities for the protection of species and habitats, where active management and intervention are required to promote biodiversity enhancement.

3) 생물다양성 평가 및 보호절차 (Biodiversity Assessment and Protection Procedures)

회사는 본 생물다양성 보호 정책의 '지향점'을 달성하기 위해 사업장 인근지역과 '보호지역'을 중심으로 1) 생물다양성 종(Species) 및 분포현황(Numbers), 2) 잠재적 생물다양성 리스크를 평가하는 절차를 구축하고자 한다. 생물다양성 저해/손실이 확인되거나 생물다양성 관련 리스크를 인식하는 경우, 생물다양성 보호를 위한 적절한 조치 및 대응체계가 계획한 바와 같이 이행되고 있는지 점검해 나간다.

To achieve the "Strategic Directions" set forth in this Biodiversity Protection Policy, the Company intends to establish procedures for assessing: biodiversity species and their distribution status (Numbers), and potential biodiversity-related risks, with a focus on areas surrounding its business sites and designated "Protected Areas." Where biodiversity degradation or loss is identified, or biodiversity-related risks are recognized, the Company shall continuously review whether appropriate measures and response systems for biodiversity protection are being implemented as planned.

① 회사는 법률 및 규제에서 요구하는 경우 또는 지역사회 등 이해관계자가 생물다양성 저해/손실에 관한 합리적 우려를 제기하는 경우 사업장 등이 위치한 국가ㆍ지역별 자연환경 특성을 고려하여 사업장 내 또는 인근 생물다양성 현황을 조사한다. 사업장 내 생물다양성을 유지/확대하기 위한 적절한 조치 및 대응체계를 마련한다. 또한, 생물다양성 보호 조치 및 대응체계가 계획한 바와 같이 이행되고 있는지 점검해 나간다.

Where required by applicable laws and regulations, or where stakeholders such as local communities raise reasonable concerns regarding biodiversity degradation or loss, the Company shall investigate the status of biodiversity within and around its business sites, taking into consideration the environmental characteristics of the countries and regions in which such sites are located. The Company shall establish appropriate measures and response systems to maintain and enhance biodiversity within its business sites. In addition, the Company shall continuously review whether biodiversity protection measures and response systems are being implemented as planned.

② 회사는 '협력사 행동 규범'의 일환으로 협력사가 사업운영상 발생가능한 생물다양성 리스크를 점검 및 개선하도록 권고한다.

As part of its "Supplier Code of Conduct," the Company recommends that suppliers identify, assess, and improve biodiversity-related risks that may arise from their business operations.

③ 회사는 지속가능한 원재료 조달을 위해 중장기적으로 원산지(Source)에서 생물다양성 저해/손실 행위가 있는지 점검하며, 위험에 처한 생물종 보호에 관한 개선조치를 권고한다.

To ensure sustainable sourcing of raw materials, the Company shall, over the mid to long term, monitor whether biodiversity degradation or loss occurs at the source of origin and recommend corrective actions for the protection of endangered and at-risk species.

④ 회사는 지역사회 및 이해관계자로부터 사업운영으로 인한 생물다양성 저해/손실, 자연 서식지 파괴에 관한 의견을 수렴하며, 합리적 우려에 대해서는 개선방안을 마련한다.

The Company shall collect opinions from local communities and stakeholders regarding biodiversity degradation or loss and the destruction of natural habitats caused by its business operations, and shall establish improvement measures to address reasonable concerns.

3. 관리 (Management)

1) 거버넌스 (Governance)

① 책임 (Responsibilities) — 회사는 최고의사결정권자가 참여하는 경영회의체 등을 통해 생물다양성 리스크를 관리/감독하도록 한다. 경영회의체의 주요 역할은 생물다양성 저해/손실 리스크 검토 및 리스크 대응방안 심의, 그 밖에 생물다양성 보전/복원/확대를 위해 필요하다고 판단되는 사항 등으로 한다. ESG를 담당하는 부서에서는 사업운영에 상당한 영향을 미치는 생물다양성 분야 법률 및 규제 대응, 생물다양성 평가 및 보호 계획 수립 관련 투자의사결정 등을 검토/심의한다.

The Company shall manage and oversee biodiversity-related risks through management committees in which top decision-makers participate. The primary roles of such management committees include reviewing biodiversity degradation and loss risks, deliberating on risk response measures, and addressing other matters deemed necessary for the conservation, restoration, and enhancement of biodiversity. Departments responsible for ESG shall review and deliberate on responses to laws and regulations related to biodiversity that may significantly affect business operations, as well as investment decisions associated with the establishment of biodiversity assessment and protection plans.

② 이행 (Implementation) — 회사는 본사에 생물다양성 보호 정책을 이행하는 조직을 두어 본사 및 사업장에 생물다양성 보호 관련 업무를 수행하도록 한다. 조직의 주요 역할은 생물다양성 평가 및 리스크 점검절차 운영, 생물다양성 보전/복원/확대 활동의 이행, 생물다양성 관련 고충 접수와 처리, 생물다양성 보호를 위한 교육 및 확산, 대외 이해관계자 및 파트너 기관과의 협력 등으로 한다.

The Company shall establish an organization at its headquarters responsible for implementing the Biodiversity Protection Policy and carrying out biodiversity protection-related activities at both the headquarters and business sites. The primary roles of the organization shall include operating biodiversity assessment and risk inspection procedures; implementing biodiversity conservation, restoration, and enhancement activities; receiving and handling biodiversity-related grievances; providing education and promoting awareness regarding biodiversity protection; and cooperating with external stakeholders and partner organizations.

2) 고충처리 (Grievance Handling)

① 고충 접수 (Grievance Reporting) — 회사는 사업 운영 과정에서 발생하는 생물다양성 관련 고충사항을 임직원 및 기타 단체(개인)으로부터 신고 받을 수 있는 채널을 운영한다.

The Company shall operate channels through which employees and external organizations or individuals may report biodiversity-related grievances arising from the Company's business operations.

② 고충 처리 (Grievance Handling) — 고충 접수된 사항은 컴플라이언스 헬프데스크의 진행절차에 의거하여 접수 처리된다. 이 때, 생물다양성 저해/손실 관련 신고사례에 대해 법원의 판례, 소관 주무관청의 규정, 과거 내부 처리관행 등을 고려하여 대응 실시한다.

Reported grievances shall be received and processed in accordance with the procedures of the Compliance Help Desk. In handling reports related to biodiversity degradation or loss, the Company shall take into consideration relevant court precedents, regulations of competent authorities, and past internal handling practices.

3) 교육 및 확산 (Education and Awareness)

① 교육 (Education) — 회사는 임직원 대상 환경경영 교육을 통해 생물다양성 보전/복원/확대 필요성에 관한 인식을 개선한다. 생물다양성의 중요성 및 필요성에 관한 인식을 개선하며, 업무 과정에서 생물다양성을 고려하도록 한다. 또한, 생물다양성 관련 이슈 발견 시 신고하도록 유도한다.

The Company shall enhance awareness of the need for biodiversity conservation, restoration, and enhancement through environmental management education provided to employees. The Company shall improve awareness regarding the importance and necessity of biodiversity and encourage employees to take biodiversity considerations into account during the course of their work. In addition, employees shall be encouraged to report any biodiversity-related issues identified during business operations.

② 정보공시 (Information Disclosure) — 회사는 생물다양성 보전/복원/확대 활동 및 성과 정보를 홈페이지, 지속가능성보고서 또는 별도의 채널을 활용하여 공시한다. 관련 정보는 임직원을 포함한 이해관계자가 접근하기 쉽고 명확하게 이해할 수 있는 채널을 통해 공시한다.

The Company shall disclose information regarding its biodiversity conservation, restoration, and enhancement activities and performance through its website, sustainability reports, or other communication channels. Such information shall be disclosed through channels that are easily accessible to and clearly understandable by stakeholders, including employees.

③ 대외협력 (External Cooperation) — 회사는 생물다양성 보전/복원/확대 활동 추진을 위해 산업계, 지역사회, 전문기관 등 외부기관과 협력체계를 구축한다. 외부기관이 보유하고 있는 생물다양성 분야 전문성과 현지 자연 서식지에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 생물다양성 보전/복원/확대 활동의 효과성을 증진한다.

The Company shall establish cooperative frameworks with external organizations, including industry partners, local communities, and specialized institutions, to promote biodiversity conservation, restoration, and enhancement activities. Based on the expertise of external organizations in the field of biodiversity and their understanding of local natural habitats, the Company shall enhance the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation, restoration, and enhancement activities.

제·개정 이력 (History of Revision)
